We’ve simplified consent collection

We’ve simplified consent collection

We’ve been listening to your feedback. Welcome to our new, hassle-free consent collection process.

📄 Simplified documents

Our new consent templates are easier to read and understand. No more head-scratching for you or your clients.

💫 Streamlined options

We’re providing three straightforward ways to obtain client consent for data processing:

  • Send an email directly through Upheal, and your clients can agree online.
  • Download our template and send or give it to your clients for them to sign.
  • Add our provided statements to your own existing consent documents.

While client consent is still needed to comply with data privacy laws, we’re no longer requiring you to confirm collection before holding a session. And of course, you’re still free to manage consent entirely on your own.

🌎 Consent by region

Data privacy and protection laws differ based on the country where you practice. Instead of long, complex forms that combine every law, we’ve created simple templates specific to your corner of the world.

For details about the updated consent process, visit our help article about consent collection.

Our iOS app, new languages, and more are ready for you

Our iOS app, new languages, and more are ready for you

We have exciting updates to make your life easier.

iOS Upheal Recorder app 📱

Recording in-person sessions is now easier than ever with the Upheal Recorder for Apple devices. Audio captured on your phone or tablet goes directly to Upheal, so you can record hassle-free and get your session notes seamlessly. The app even works offline. If you’ve had a hard time with in-browser audio recording, this should help!

New languages (beta) 🗣️

It’s here! You can now hold sessions in Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Mandarin, and Hindi. You don’t need to set anything up — just start your session as usual, and the language will be automatically detected. Upheal will produce notes in English and a transcript in the language spoken. See our support page for details.

Note rating 👍👎

Now, you can send us direct feedback about session notes. The more often you tell us what’s working for you and what’s not, the more we can improve. Just look for the thumbs up and thumbs down icons in your notes.

Couples therapy 💑

Just a reminder, we support couples therapy! You can get notes from couples therapy sessions held in person, via uploaded recording, and through our browser extension.

Do you do Couples therapy? Let AI handle the notes!

Do you do Couples therapy? Let AI handle the notes!

It’s been in the making for a while 👬 – we now support Couples therapy! You will now be able to get pre-drafted notes from your Couples sessions, not just your Individual ones. How exciting is that?

Our solution uses a trans-theoretical approach and can be used by various psychotherapeutic directions for working with couples.

We have three Couples templates you can choose from:

  • Upheal for couples
  • SOAP for couples
  • DAP for couples

Hopefully, this will make our notes even smarter. We can’t wait for you to try this out.

All you have to do is go to your client list and “Add clients”. Then, choose “Couples” instead of “Individual” to add your first couple.

And, it’s available on all our plans!

Meet our new extension – integrate with any EHR

Meet our new extension – integrate with any EHR

There’s a new way to integrate with all EHRs and online video-calling tools like SimplePractice or TherapyNotes. Say hi to our new Chrome browser extension!

Now you can get Upheal’s progress notes directly from any online session, whichever platform you use. Just hit record using the Upheal browser extension, and have your sessions automatically turned into progress notes and insights. And yes, you can use headphones! 🎧

Another great thing about this feature is that it makes importing notes to your EHR even more convenient.

It’s not only possible to record your sessions, but it’s also easy to transfer all of your Upheal notes from the extension to your EHR system.

Whether you captured your sessions using the extension, an Upheal session, or the audio recorder, you can easily copy/paste your notes from the same tab straight to your EHR. Just remember to edit them in the app first – don’t worry, they’ll sync instantly with the extension.

Curious? Try it today – it’s free to trial. After that, you can make the most of this feature in our Premium and Unlimited plans.

  • Works on Windows and Apple devices
  • Super easy to set up
  • Compatible with all the tools you love

Embellishments to our notes and audio recorder

Embellishments to our notes and audio recorder

You tireless mental health warrior! It’s time to share our roundup of fabulous new features and improvements that we hope will make your lives easier (yet again).

This week it’s mostly about our notes

✨ Our official sign-off feature 📝

You can now lock and sign off on beautifully formatted and prepared notes for submission to insurance providers. We can even automatically include your therapy license and NPI. Any changes will also be logged so you’re always covered from a legal point of view.

✨ A compliance header 🧐

Notes now include a header with all the required compliance information, like DOB, address, or CPT codes. There’s more space in the notes editor for you to work in and you can even edit client information from here.

✨ PDF export and copy/paste your notes 📓

Download and export your newly compliant notes or make use of our improved formatting functionality when you use the copy/paste clipboard. Enjoy the added space, bullets, and even callouts!

And our audio recorder feature

✨ Session-end reminders 🔔

Some of you have been forgetting to turn off the audio recorder. We get it, days are busy, and you’re focused on the client. Our solution: session-end reminders and an updated design to come! You can either choose to set up a sound notification or automatically end the session at a pre-selected time. If you use the audio recorder feature, go ahead and set this up now!

All you have to do is select any three sessions and we’ll whip up a client treatment plan complete with details of your client’s diagnosis, symptoms, and progress – along with accompanying goals and SMART objectives.

So.Much.Rad.Treatment stuff! 😊

Having clear therapy goals supported by SMART objectives and easy-to-follow designated categories, makes treatment even more attainable for your clients, as well as making insurance coverage easier.

The plan recommendations are taken from actual sessions and are fully unique to each client – no AI nonsense! Just what was discussed in sessions or what our AI suggests based on previous session data.

  • Client identification and demographics (with Intake session)
  • History and reason for treatment (with Intake session)
  • Treatment goals and objectives
  • Strategies and interventions
  • Strengths and resources
  • Progress and outcome evaluation (in the future, we’ll compare progress to goals and objectives automatically)

Notes and transcripts in pdf format and more

Notes and transcripts in pdf format and more

We’ve got a mix of latest improvements for you!

You can now:

  • Export our notes and transcripts in PDF format – they’re easily downloadable and printable in a template.
  • Review progress notes from the waiting room in Upheal online session – use the time before a call to review your clients’ history or reference things said in previous sessions during the call itself.
  • Make the most of our Psychiatry SOAP note update – we’ve added a psychiatric review of systems section, put more emphasis on medication in the S, A, and P sections, and separated medications into discussed and prescribed.

And finally, if there’s a feature we don’t have yet, let us know! Add it to our product portal and browse through other features that are on the way. You need to be signed in to Upheal to access this “Wishlist”.

Upheal gets better again: note dictation, MSE and psychiatry intakes

Upheal gets better again: note dictation, MSE and psychiatry intakes

We’ve made a few exciting changes!

  • An MSE section in our notes. Upheal notes are now even more compliant. And, you can save time with auto-generated risk assessment too.
  • New dictation-to-notes magic. You can use the Audio recorder to turn observations into progress notes.
  • Select note type when uploading a session. Rather than switching between notes later, you can choose the desired note straightaway. Yay!
  • Psychiatry Intake and SOAP notes 🥼👏🏼 Great news for psychiatrists using Upheal. We’ve tailored our notes, especially for your needs.

Currently, both psychiatry notes are free, but will only be available on our paid plans after a brief period of time. So, if you have a Premium or Unlimited subscription, you’ll be able to add a psychiatry notes add-on as an extra.

New features, new look

New features, new look

We’ve introduced so many new features lately, that we wanted to take a step back and make sure that everything's easily accessible to you, at a glance.

That led us to a brand new dashboard!

Thanks to our new look, you’ll find that you can now:

  • See your clients easily on the left-hand side
  • Toggle between upcoming and past sessions
  • Start an in-person or audio recorder session from the dashboard
  • Upload recordings from the dashboard too
  • You’ll also find it easier to access your Uphealer link

And, the client profile section got a little makeover too. You’ll also be able to access the private room link, launch the audio recorder, or upload recordings from the client detail section.

Plus, all of this is now reflected in the mobile experience which we’ve made more responsive. So it’s now easier to launch or hold sessions from your mobile too – though we still recommend leaving the editing of your notes for when you’re at your desktop.

We hope all of this, combined with a little more color for some warmth in these upcoming winter months, will be a welcome improvement.
